Okay, but Darcy absolutely keeping the stuffed giraffe Horst handed to her when she got high score on skee ball, for, like, ever. When she finds out he died-died and sees him next, she gives it back to him with a white with red polka dots ribbon tied around its neck.
|| (you asked for this.)
  “You kept it? All this time?”
Horst’s eyes widened as he turned the stuffed toy over in his hands, his expression softening into an almost nostalgic smile. He looked back down at Darcy, one arm extending to wrap her into a tight (but not -too- tight) hug.
   “I want you to keep her, hm? Gertrude’s her name,   and you won her fair and square at skee-ball.”
Horst kissed the top of Darcy’s head.   “I’m not going anywhere again, I promise.”
